Dandamudi Amar Mohandas (born 12 December 1954) is an Indian film actor, singer and producer. He has acted in over 150 films in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil. Also He is considered one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema. He has won two National Film Awards for Best Actor for his performances in Devdas (1987) and Asha Parekh (1988). Dandamudi also produced and starred in the critically acclaimed 1994 Tamil film Kalavarasu.
Dandamudi was born to a Bengali family in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his early education from St. Stephen’s School and Allahabad University. Mohandas started his career as a teacher at CBSE School at Gandhi Nagar, Bangalore where he worked for three years before moving to Delhi to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
